The Easiest Chex Mix Ever

We love Chex mix in our house. I’m not saying its a good thing for me to make and have hanging around because I devour this and am always left wondering where it all went. It’s so so so yummy!

Sometimes when I am craving something crunchy I will whip this up with whatever is in our cupboards at the time. You don’t have to follow the recipe exactly because you can absolutely put your own spin on this. My girls love cereal but can never seem to finish a whole box. Usually when I have a few half empty boxes of cereal laying around that’s when I will throw this together.

However, if I am making this around the holidays to have on hand (which doesn’t last long) or if I am giving it as a gift I will go for the standard recipe with the “normal” ingredients.

Now I have made this 2 different ways. I have made a quick batch and made it in the microwave and I have also made it in the oven. I personally prefer the oven over the microwave. I think it comes out a little bit more crisp and oh man I just can’t get enough!

This is my problem, I just love food. Thats why I need to start working out on a more regular basis because otherwise I am just going to continue to eat everything I come across. I’m pretty sure I have zero self control and even more so around this time of year. Maybe today’s the day that I will start walking daily. A little motivation for all the yummies that are coming around this time of year.

Seriously, I’m sure that I am not the only one this time of year to have no self control. I know there are things that only get cooked and baked around the holidays. Im over here all like “I’ve waited all year for these cookies and that pie”. I’m already thinking and planning out all my Christmas cookies that I’ll be making. I love love love the “old school” holiday cookies but I am careful to not eat them all. I will bake them and then send them to work with my husband or pawn them off on whoever will take them.

So with this Chex Mix recipe its so easy you don’t need to be a good cook or baker to make this and have it taste super yummy! This is also on my list of homemade gifts this year. I have a few things on that list and I’ll update you with a picture when I get the gifts complete!

Chex Mix

Easiest CheX Mix Ever

*This is an Extra-Bold Mix that is super yummy! This will serve roughly 24*

Ingredients:

9 cups Chex Cereal ( Sometimes I mix Corn, Rice, and Wheat)

2 Cups mini pretzels

1 Cup Cheerios ( Sometimes I use honey nut for a sweet/salty taste)

1 Cup Peanuts

1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter still hot

1/2 Cup Worcestershire Sauce

1 1/2 Tablespoons Seasoned Salt

1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

How to Make:

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Add Chex, Pretzels, Cheerios, and Peanuts together in a large bowl. Gently mix to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter (I use the same bowl I melted the butter in), Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, and garlic powder. Drizzle half of the sauce over the Chex mix and stir gently. I use a rubber spatula which helps prevent breaking of the Chex. Repeat these steps until well combined and all sauce has been used.
  4. Pour the mix onto a baking sheet (sometimes I use 2 baking sheets depending on the size)
  5. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. Gently push around the mix half way through to get the bottom mix to the top so it bakes evenly.
  6. Let cool on parchment paper
  7. Eat and enjoy 🙂

*If you want to use the microwave make the mix in a microwave safe bowl and once all mixed together with the sauce, pop it in the microwave for 5 to 6 minutes on high. Be sure to throughly stir ever 2 minutes.

If you store this in an airtight container it will last up to 3 weeks at room temp. (FYI It never lasts more than a few days at our house!!)

  1. Omg 😮 I have never known anyone else that puts Cheerios in their Chex mix! It’s my favorite part, this is the same recipe my grandma has been making forever and I’ve never met anyone else that makes it this way till now
