You will never believe how I managed to come up with the money to pay our mortgage! Its always been one of the “bills” that I pay. Yes we do have certain bills that each of us pays with our income. This one is mine.
Right now I am in a transition state. It has been very stressful and rough. Stressful since I know I need to start figuring out what I want to do with my life. You are most likely thinking “Girl, you are married with kids! You better figure it out real quick”, I know, I know.
It’s just not that simple. My husband works so much and travels a ton! Even though both of our girls are in school full time, they still have after school activities. If I went out and found a job outside of the home, I would then need to pay for child care on top of our ever amounting bills and all the activities. Part of me thinks its time to go out and look for something but, a part of me knows it just doesn’t make sense at this time.
So..I was happily selling LuLaRoe and having no issues making enough to help financially. The problem came down to the time commitment. (It’s not all sunshine and rainbows) I had to be glued to my phone, the computer, and all social channels. Not to bad right? Well, it also took me away from mommy and family needs that I feel are my responsibility since Brian is maxed out with work.
It took me away on nights, weekends, and all day. During the days when the girls are in school are no problem at all. Its the nights and weekends that became a stressful time. Someone needs to be able to drive them where they need to go when they need to go there. (That’s me until they start driving hahaha)
Anyway, since I really started slowing down with LuLaRoe and cutting back on night and weekends, I really needed to find something to supplement income. About a year or so ago my girlfriend told me about this app called Poshmark. She filled me in a bit on how it works and what you can expect. I brushed it off… Yeah, Yeah, I really didn’t have time for one more thing to keep track of.
Fast forward to this past summer she mentioned it again. This time I was more intrigued. Mostly because the looks of our closet’s were starting to make me sick with all the clothes bursting out.
Poshmark is an app on your phone or tablet where you can sell clothing, shoes, and accessories. I downloaded the app to check it out and see what it was about. Upon further investigating I found that you could not only sell women’s items but you can also sell men’s and kids stuff!! SOLD! I was sold right then! Since I’m pretty sure my husband has more clothes and shoes than the rest of us in the house!!
If you could only imagine me walking down the stairs with a tote full of clothes..with my husband looking at me like I was crazy. I told him I was going to test out this app I heard about. He shrugged and I went on my way.
I photographed a few items just to “test” it out and see if I could really sell a few things on there. Well…after that first sale I was HOOKED! I’m at the point where I just want to sell all of our clothes and shoes just to see if they will really sell! Crazy right? I couldn’t believe that I was actually selling our clothes!
How Does It Actually Work?
Once you download the app you will create an account or sign up. You can use code KFELTON08 and you will get a $5 credit to use!
There is a newsfeed that you can scroll through and shop from (there is a ton of awesome finds on here for super discounts on name brand items)
You can also shop by searching a particular brand, items you have liked, parties, or just by size and gender.
The news button is to see your notifications. This is where you will see if you have any comments or questions on items you have listed.
If you are looking to sell like I was- all you have to do is click sell and it will open your camera. Take a few pictures of the item you are selling and then provide a description. You can set your own price.
The part I love about this is that I can set the price I want and people can “make and offer” sometimes I get really low offers and I just ignore or decline them. Other times I will counter offer them. Which then they can accept or decline. They also have the choice to buy the item for what you have it listed for. (Similar to eBay I guess) After the item sells Poshmark will send you an email. In the email you will be able to download the provided shipping label (Yes! They email you a shipping label) you print it and put it in a package and drop it in your mailbox.
If you don’t have any packages you can order some for free from USPS online. They will send you some for free. I do this about once a month.
How Much I Am Actually Selling
Since I have been using Poshmark I have made enough money to supplement my income for right now. I cleaned out the girls room and I am slowly adding items. I would say I add listings once or twice a week. I just don’t have a ton of time to do everything in one sitting.
I have sold over $2,000 worth of clothing! I just started adding in some of the kids shoes that are in brand new condition.
I end up sending out a few packages a week. It is very easy and user friendly.
You probably want to know how you get your money? Once an item is sold Poshmark has a hold account. They balance here is the funds from items that have sold but you are waiting for the buyer to receive the item. After they receive it, they accept it and the funds are moved to an available balance account. You can use this money to shop from other people or you cash it in.
I personally keep the money right there until I hit a certain amount and then I have it direct deposited to my bank account. It usually takes 1 business day from the time you request the direct deposit until it hits your bank account.
For real though, if you haven’t tried out this app yet you need to do it now! It really is a ton of fun and an easy way to make some extra cash!! So go check it out and don’t for get to use this special code to get a free $5!! KFELTON08
Drop a line here once you download it and I would love to follow you! Or if you are already using this awesome app follow me @kfelton08 🙂 Be sure to let me know what you think of it and Im always looking for suggestions for cool apps to use! 🙂 🙂
