Now that it is August (crazy I know!) I am searching every place for ways to make eating so much easier. Once we head back to school I swear life doesn’t stop for anything! We have school, homework, activities, and normal daily tasks that need to get done.
One of the most important things that can make any lifestyle so much easier is meal prepping! Not just meal prepping dinners but also school lunches and even breakfast if you tend to rush around in the mornings. Yes, we are pretty hectic since my girls are not morning people like me.
I personally enjoy prepping. Maybe not so much the planning part but I do enjoy grocery shopping and the prep. 🙂 I haven’t done it in a long time but it is number one on my list of things to do. I know first hand how much easier it makes our lives. Not only is it a huge time saver but you can also get the kids to jump in and help, too!! Use meal prepping to teach them how to cook and they are more likely to eat something if they had their hand in helping make.
Lunch Prep
This year since my girls are certainly old enough to pack their own lunches I will be setting up a lunch station where they can add prepped items to their lunch boxes. I’m hoping this will guarantee that not only will they like the lunch but eat most of it. (I’ll update you when I have actually created our launch station) .
Check out Amy’s post to see her Lunch Box Planner it is amazing and I will be using this to help with my prepping! She has some really great ideas that you can work with.
Back to school time is always so exciting. It’s a fresh start and who doesn’t love going back to school and seeing all their friends? My girls certainly do!
Dinner Prep
Can you guess who the pickiest eater in our house is? Brian! He doesn’t care to eat leftovers and doesn’t care for a lot of the food that the girls and I enjoy. He is more of a fast food burger and fries type of guy. He defiantly eats more now a days than we I first met him. He grew up eating out daily. I really want our girls to grow up learning healthy habits and that is why I will be coming up with a plan to assure that they will eat their dinner and not fight me about it.
Dinner is always the hardest task of the day for us. After activities, running around, homework, and Brian not getting home until after 6pm who really wants to sit down and figure out what they are going to have for dinner? Hence the MEAL PREPPING! If we all pick something to add to our grocery list and weekly meal plan then we should have a problem right? Wrong! There are still plenty of ” I don’t like that” “I don’t feel like having that tonight”
I found these awesome sheet pan recipes they look super easy and yummy! I also invested in a Pampered Chef RockCrock Dutch Over. I am loving that sooo much! It has already made cooking so much easier. One dish, one mess!
I love love love that I can use the rockcrock in the microwave, oven, grill, and on the stove! I’ve only had it a couple weeks and I have made a few cakes, noodles, and I have been searching everywhere for other recipes for it.
I tend to do all my meal prepping on a Sunday morning. Its awesome. I just get it done and out of the way and we still have almost a whole day to have an adventure or family day.
Do you meal prep? How do you figure our weekly lunches and dinners? I’d love your input on meal planning!
